Ronald to retire? Just say no.

That evil Ronald McDonald, forcing our kids to eat non-healthy foods. A group called Corporate Accountability International is wishing an early retirement of one of the most noticable fast food characters. I am sure you have heard the story by now. Ronald bad, Mcdonalds bad, blah, blah, blah. Do they target kids with their happy meals, and Ronald? Sure they do. Is Mcdonalds good for you? Probably not on a daily basis (just have your kids watch the documentary Super Size Me). But there is something that stands out, that has only been mentioned a few times since this story took national headlines. Here is a paragraph from a pdf file from StopCorporateAbuse.com.

“What about the parents?” I hear this refrain all too often. After all, kids
don’t drive themselves to McDonald’s or purchase those Happy Meals
themselves. But any parent can tell you how difficult it is, after a long
day at work, to resist the daily pestering by their children to take them to
McDonald’s. What parent hasn’t driven past a McDonald’s and heard the
whining from the back seat? Who doesn’t know a child bent on collecting
Happy Meal toys or visiting the playground McDonald’s so cleverly places
on much of its property?

Yes, raising two kids i know how hard it is, but I also know a simple two letter word.....NO. Come on, I know you can say it....No. There, that wasn't to hard was it? NO, we are not going to eat at McDonalds, and if you don't like what we are eating at home, you just won't eat. What is so damn hard about that? Can somebody please tell me when the last time Ronald came to your house with a gun, and FORCED you to go buy a happy meal for your kids? Seriously, shut the hell up, and don't tell McDonalds corporation what they should do. What the groups who oppose the clown should do is teach some parents responsibilty, and to stop finding ways to divert blame for their fat ass, unhealthy kids to somebody other than themselves.

You know what? Lets not stop with Ronald. While were at it, lets see who else we get rid of because parents don't have enough responsibility to feed their kids healthy.

1) The King. That guy scares the hell out of me. Gives my kids nightmares so they can't get a goodnight sleep, which in turn, hinders their ability to concentrate in school, which in turn, is making them suffer academically. It's not my fault that they are up at 2:00am on a school night when the commercial comes on.

2) Chuck E Cheese the Mouse. Shit, thats a mouse that hangs out in a RESTURANT, and sponsors really crappy, unhealthy food. Lets put that mouse in a trap.

3) The Wendy's girl. My daughter wants to go there because Wendy looks so adorable on all the food containers. She is now wearing her hair in pig tails. Problem is, her hair is not long enough, so she has little stubs of hair on each side of her head. Every day she is made fun of at school. What can I do about it? It's Wendy who is causing it.

I am sure I can find more, but those are the ones that comes to mind. Somewhere in time, parents decided that they needed to find ways to divert, and place blame, on the kids behaviour on something, or someone else, other than on their parenting skills. I know, its not easy raising kids. I hear about going to McDonalds, or any other fast food joint a few times a week, but as a RESPONSIBLE parent, I have to do the tough, but the right thing, and say no.

Let's practice one more time.

Kid: "Can we go to Mcdonalds for dinner?"
Parent: "No"

This is Acrostar signing off, and this is what pisses me off.
